Attorney license lookup

Every state runs its own bar. Pick a state to search that bar's roll and see a lawyer's status, bar number, and standing.

Choose a state

Each links to that bar's lookup, with the board's own status vocabulary and renewal rules.

35 states live. The rest are being added from the board registry.

How attorney licensing works

A lawyer is licensed by the highest court or bar of each state they practice in, not nationally, so a lawyer active in one state may not be admitted in another. A bar record shows whether they were admitted, whether they are eligible to practice today, and whether any public discipline is on file. Checking the right state's bar is the difference between a verified lawyer and an assumption.
